About Kevin

I've been writing songs since I was a kid, mostly at the piano, and mostly because that's where I go to feel something all the way through. I teach at a university, lead our congregation's choir, and live in Utah. Our littles have all grown up and gone, which you may have guessed.

These songs are for anyone reaching for God...through joy, through sorrow, through worship, through simple yearning. If one of them finds you at the right moment, I'd be grateful to hear about it.

How these songs are made

For most of my life, my songs stayed in notebooks. I didn't have an orchestra, a studio, or a band. Today I write the words, or choose the poems I set, and decide how each song should feel. Some of the melodies come from me at the piano; for most, I start with an idea and work it out together with Suno, an AI music tool, which also produces the finished recordings. I keep at each one until it sounds like what I hear.

Anchor & Oak is the name I release under: the anchor for faith that holds firm through storms, and the oak for character that grows strong in hard times.
